TB: 'mart irises & and Other Hideous Practices

From: StorYlade@aol.com

Walked by the bins of Hostas, Dahlias, etc., at 'the Mart' the other day and
stopped dead in my tracks. Left over and culled plants lay disintegrating in
their little bags, beyond the help of mortal man, woman, or water. A hand
lettered notice stated, "Sprouting plants are NOT bad!!"

My left hand had to grab my right hand and lead me away! Those plants
weren't SPROUTING. They were DEAD!

A week or so earlier, I had commented to the gate attendant in the garden
section that a group of bedding plants needed watering. She stuck her nose
in the air and said, "No, they're sick." Well, I wanted to tell her that
she'd be sick too, if someone withheld water as long as they had from those
poor plants, BUT I didn't. No point. (The problem was obvious--to me. You
see enough wilted plants and you kinda recognize a wilted plant.)

You'd think they'd get someone who knows plants to work there? Like in the
TV ads?

Betty in BG KY . . . resisting the urge to talk about the wilted plants seen
LAST night.
