Betty, Conjuration has won Queen of Show at our Washington Iris Club show at
least two, if not three times in the past three years. Jim Morris was
always showing it, he can really grow an iris! I have loved it since the
first time I saw it, though we can not grow it as well as Jim. Edith
Wolford was an iris I loved from seeing it in Schreiner's catalog, where it
appeared as a very luminous light yellow and blue. When it bloomed for the
first time, it was a darker yellow and powder purple and I was discouraged.
I threw it out, but my son brought it right back from a nursery give away at
school! It has behaved very well in his garden for three years now and he
got a blue with it yesterday. He was hoping for a chance at Youth Queen,
but the top bloom folded one hour before judging and he had to pinch it out,
leaving only a side bloom, pretty branching and no chance for Queen!
