Does anyone have the exact dates for the 2000 AIS convention in
Dallas? The AIS website lists the dates as April 15-20, 2000; but
April 15, 2000 is a Saturday and April 20th is a Thursday. Can this be
right? or is my calendar wacko?
I don't know if anyone has responded to this yet, since I've been at the
OKC Convention, then to the SLI convention, so here goes.
Yes, Those are the correct dates. The upcoming weekend is Easter. But,
our peak bloom time is during that time. We were right on time this
year, and for several past years, so you should have a great time even
it you only come to see the flowers. We will be going to the Clark's
garden for those who didn't know. If you've been there, done that, don't
worry. They've created a completely new garden area that is almost as
unbelievable as their's was at the Fort Worth Convention in 1993. Their
iris display area is now doubled if not tripled; quadrupled. Just ask
anyone who was here for the preconvention tour!
We will also be going to Marie Calliet's garden, her sister's garden,
and their neighbor's garden. Wait till you see that!! Marie grows mostly
Louisianas, her sister mostly grows beardeds and their neighbor grows
anything else.
For those who know her, Joan Stanley's place will also be on the tour.
She has a "to-die for" house, and has added a pool plus planted irises
and irises in the "corral" as the guest beds. She has specialty beds
around her house for spaceagers, wedding related named irises, etc...
Now, That's a COOL Lady!! We all love her dearly.
Hope to see you all at our convention next year. But, we decided to be
boring and just produce plain ole perfect weather, instead of trying to
top Denver with it's snow, and Oklahoma with it's Tornados.
