Hi Iris-talkers
In response to the question "<< WHY
are older variety of IRIS usually always TOP award winners
in polls and shows? >>
I believe Kathy Guest provided the most reasonable response to the question : (She also furnished the best & up-to-date reports from OKC - thanx Kathy )
When people ask me ," Which iris should I consider buying "?
My own response was, " Do you want the New and Improved OR
the Olde and Reliable " ?
In days gone by - when I had the pleasure of maintaining
the HIPS DataBank - ONE historic iris was shown to be grown
by MORE members than any other listed in the HIPS DataBank - ( last
count - over 6,163 records )
It was WABASH - 1936 ( MARY Williamson) Dykes Winner
1940 -
It ' went off ' my charts every report time !
Do you still grow it ?
