recall, however, that there was a note in the Siberian Iris bulletin (Spring
1995) that ESTHER CDM and GULL'S WING may actually be the same iris. Both were
hybridized by Dr. William McGarvey, but GULL'S WING was introduced by Borbeleta
Gardens after Dr. McGarvey's death. Whether the 2 irises are the same or not,
I'm not sure; I only remember the discussion about it. Julius Wadekamper of
Borbeleta Gardens, however, noted in the bulletin that ESTHER CDM and GULL'S
WING planted next to each other are identical. An interesting note about ESTHER
CDM, (according to the note by Julius Wadekamper in the Siberian Iris) is that
Dr McGarvey introduced it in the AIS Bulletin at $1,500.
I would also highly recommend KING OF KINGS, a very late siberian by Steve
Varner. Another white siberian that I grow, and I don't believe has been
mentioned, is WHITE TRIANGLES. This is a very distinctive siberian by Bee
Warburton and can be easily idenified by the shape of the flower. It is well
named in that the flower is quite triangular. A large clump of WHITE TRIANGLES
in bloom is spectacular.

bloom, but most of the great white siberians are yet to begin blooming.
