Linda, I believe I heard that story about how the name came about from Lu
Dickhaut, who is quite knowledgable about these things. She also told me
that this same iris was reintroduced under the name of GULL'S WING,
inadvertently by Mr Wadekamper after Mr. McGarvy's demise. I grow these
two about 24" apart. They are identical, bloom the same time. Both
lovely...labeled according to the name I purchased them by. But I think I
agree with Dave Silverberg....KING OF KINGS is the best white, at least for
