MTB: AB: Aachen Elf ?

Is Aachen Elf supposed to be an arilbred? I obtained seeds from what was
labelled A.E. in my garden this year, and they have that arilate collar...
obviously it's an arilbred, but I thought it was supposed to be a "regular"
MTB.
