Hi Jody, and welcome to the list. One preventative measure I've learned to
combat borers is to cut the foliage back in October down to about 2" from
the ground. Basically this removes any eggs that may have been laid,
without any major detriment to the irises. It's probably not too late in
the season to try it now if you want to experiment with the technique.
I'm also just getting into LAs. I tried a handful of them in years past,
but this year I moved to a new house with a bigger yard, and I could
finally splurge. I got an assortment of oldies as well as recent intros.
Next spring should be quite exciting!
