Donald, my suggestion would be to set the pots outdoors, buried to the
rims in either dirt, sand, sawdust, packed leaves, wet hay, anything to
insulate the outside of the pots, then cover them with a well-anchored
double layer of Reemay. Leave the Reemay loose enough on top to allow a
few inches of growth - maybe put a few piles of soft something (wadded
up paper? lumps of soft straw? leaves? a few cola bottles of water?) to
hold the Reemay off of them a bit, then just leave them. That should
keep them actively growing till temps get to the teens, & by that time,
they ought to be big enough to cope.
I have just taken my toilet tank soaked seeds out of the fridge this
week. No sign of anything coming up yet. None of my non-germinating
seeds from this spring that are still outdoors are showing signs of
coming up either, but it has been so dry, I'm not surprised at that.
The Louisiana seedlings that came up this fall are from seeds planted
year before last.
Good luck!
