Welcome to the group--you will soon learn a lot about Iris--from the members
here--but you should also consult your local library and find some books
about raising Iris--and study them--Iris grow differently in different parts
of the country--so you should find out your 'climate zone' and attach it to
your signature--that way we know where you are, and by reading our climate
zones, you will know where we are--and at times that can make a difference
with which variety of Iris you can grow, and your blooming season--
As for Dahlias--they do go well with Iris--don't give up on them after only
one time--the mid-size Dahlias are easiest to grow--and will give you many
blooms during the season--the large ones are more showy--but if you disbud
like you are supposed to--you might get one bloom per plant--
I have grown Dahlias for many years now--almost as long as I have grown
Iris--and even though the Dahlias are more work--it is worth it to have
blooms in the yard later in the season than the Iris--unfortunately rebloom
here is non-existent--so I read the bloom reports of other listers--and
think how lucky they are to have rebloom--
