Dear Mark,
I'm not sure how rebloomers fit in John Van Hook's hybridizing program.
I'm sure if you ask him he will be happy to tell you. I would be interested
also. I have been actively seeking more rebloomers. This year a friend gave
me 2 Pink Attractions & Autumn Tryst (which I have not seen bloom) &
Clarence. I purchased some Pink Attraction from Hugh Thurman (Who has a
catelog this year) and he sent me Frappee as an extra. I also have the
rebloomers you gave me: Polar King, Feedback, Queen Dorothy, Belvi Queen &
Buckwheat. Also, last year I flippantly said that since Little Showoff
bloomed all summer long for some people on Iris-Talk that I wanted some, & 2
people on the list sent it to me; one being Judy Hunt from Louisville, & the
other remains a mystery. And through the years I have obtained High Ho
Silver, Corn Harvest, Lady Emma (which is currently blooming), Darkling and
Immortality. It has been so dry this Fall that few have bloomed. However,
the days are still warm enough that I think some of my rebloomers may still
throw up a stalk or two. Last year Buckwheat bloomed at Thanksgiving, with a
very tall 36 or 38 " stalk & many buds.
Here is an attachment of Buckwheat at Thanksgiving.
