Re: RE-Bloom

Rosalie, my name is Betty Wilkerson and I'm zone 6, which is acting more like
9 or 10 for the moment. Please note AFTERNOON DELIGHT is "trying" to rebloom
here (South Central Kentucky, USA) and by most accounts would only be counted
if it actually opens a (1) bloom.

By those standards, I know the seedlings I bragged on last evening do not
count as rebloomers, either. However, as a person with a little rebloom
experience in this region, I project that rebloom will improve as I have more
and more rhizomes from these seedlings. Without doubt, at least in my mind,
others will also follow suit. After all, that is the central theme of my
program.

Most people wouldn't understand the enthusiasm I feel over a plant I've never
seen bloom, and I understand their position. These could turn out to be
really ugly (like my yellow & purple reblooming cross), but most contain
something worth carrying on another generation, including Mr. UGLY. If
nothing else, there is the sheer fact of rebloom gene transfer to another
generation. Thus we have seedlings used (and noted in the R & I ) that were
not deemed worthy of introduction.

Forty-one pots are filled, watered, and waiting for the 2001 seed crop,
mostly from reblooming seedlings.
