Re: PHOTO:AIS Bulletin Cover 10/02

Same reaction in our house, Walter.  We don't grow it --- is this typical?

  MESMERIZER is shown on the front cover of the current issue of 
  the Bulletin of the American Iris Society which arrived here 
  yesterday.

  I didn't recognize it at first when I pulled the bulletin from the 
  envelope and was thinking we had another bulletin devoted to 
  historics, which I always read with relish.  I went to the other mail, 
  which seems quite heavy with catalogs now that the Christmas 
  shopping season is near.

  After dinner, I returned to the catalogs and the AIS Bulletin.  I was 
  thinking Lloyd Austin, finally and deservedly so, got one of his irises 
  on the cover.  Imagine, to my surprise when I found on page 3 that 
  the cover picture is that of MESMERIZER, our current Dykes!  
  What stalks!  What branching! What bud count!  What flowers! 
  What voting in 2002!
