Either way, you're way ahead of me. I have my pots filled, and any question
I had about the soil being 'settled' was answered by the rain we had last
night! I'm still waiting for the weather to settle into a cooler phase
before I plant. I think I will cover the pots with coffee filters this year.
I've used them before to keep the rain from moving my seed around, but this
time I'm hoping they will be a squirrel deterrent.
I've been having a lot of trouble with squirrels this year, but no problems
with crickets. Maybe the squirrels ate the crickets??! <g>
It won't be hard to get this year's crop planted since I only have 9 crosses
& only one produced enough seed to require two pots. Unlike you, I don't
want fall sprouts.
This might be a good time to plant some of the old seed I ran across
yesterday. Even some from 1991. One envelope contains seed from HARVEST OF
MEMORIES X FAME . . . I planted 25 that fall but didn't plant the rest. I
still have most of last years seedlings to line out so I probably won't
bother.
