Here, as with Walter's area, the line more or less parted--due mostly
to the effects of the Great Smokies. We had a terrific amount of
thunder and lightning between four and five am Monday morning. Some
friends reported trees going down and they thought they heard a
twister about seven miles SE of here.

My wife, her daughter and son and various spouses were in SC between
Spartanburg and Columbia. When the tornado warnings went off there
they climbed into stairwells, bathtubs and closets, but just had high
wind and lots of rain. The radio announcer was terrified. They saw
several tornados that never touched down in their area.

My daughters in Middle TN were closer to the action. SE of
Murfreesburo (SE of Nashville) there was "horrendous" damage a few
miles SE of there, and the county adjoining southward--Coffee County,
Manchester area, was hit pretty hard. Abby, NW of Nashville said
they also had only high winds and lots of rain which demolished what
was left of rebloom there. The third daughter hasn't been heard
from, but her answering machine still works so I assume she still has
a house.
