Historical irises

Hi All. I am new to your organization and thrilled to be a member.
I've loved irises all my life and always had a few in my garden. In
the past three years I have become almost obsessed with them.
Last year I planted nearly 100 irises. A labor of love which I
enjoyed, right down to the dirt on my knees and hands!

I have two types of irises in my garden which I planted over 15
years ago. They came to me as transplants from an abandoned
soon to be bulldozed over lot in the inner city of Boston. A friend
knew irises were a passion for me and brought me about 50
rather ragged looking plants that he salvaged before they were
lost to another building site. I planted every one, and almost all
survived the first year. They have spread and multiplied so there
is a solid maze of blooms outside my porch window, many
fragrant. My quandry: I have searched everywhere trying to
identify what they are. I viewed every photo on the HIPS website,
to no avail. I could use some help from you experienced
irisarians. I will attempt to describe each as best I can.

The first one is a medium-sized bearded iris with 6-8 blooms
per stalk, no fragrance, medium yellow -colored standards, with
medium, vivid brown color (definitely not maroon or very dark red)
falls and pale yellow beards.

The second is also a medium-sized bearded iris with 6-8
blooms per stalk, sweet lemon fragrance, pale, clear yellow
(almost chiffon) self with chiffon/ivory beards.

If I can identify them, I would be pleased to share what I have of
them. They are truly dramatic, but certainly not the size and
boldness of the more current plants. Hope to hear from
someone who can help me, or put me in the right direction to
figure it out myself. Thanks.
