MTB: HYB: Lady Emma

This spring LADY EMMA began to produce an open-pollinated pod. I was under
the impression Lady Emma was sterile. Unfortunately a verbena moth stung the
pod, the resulting larvae destroying one of the carpels. I slit it open,
killed one sizeable larva and a smaller one, salvaging the remaining parts of
the pod.

This fall I found five normal seeds in one carpel, none in the second--the
verbena bud moth larva had invaded it and destroyed what seed may have been
there. These haven't been planted--saved for future use as I am overflowing
with higher priority items right now, but I am most curious.

Lady Emma is an "MTB" with an IB-type genetic makeup, as I understand it. The
only pollen source available at the time the pod must have formed was the SDB
TANTARA. Has anyone else observed fertility in Lady Emma in any sort of
cross?
