<<To qualify for AIS awards:   a European variety would have to be introduced in North America FIRST, by a North American nursery.  It could not be offered for sale elsewhere during the same shipping season.

It would be necessary for the introducer to furnish proof of introduction to the registrar, and it would be necessary for the hybridizer to sign a statement (in a letter, or use a standard form)
attesting to the accuracy of the conditions:  introduced in America first and not sold by anyone elsewhere that same year.   The certification of eligibility is now handled by the Awards chairman.>>
