Re: RE: AIS: Irisregister.com

Hi Joyce,

There are several free database resources on the internet for daylilies.
One of the more popular ones is "Tinkers" at
http://www.tinkersgardens.com/Daylily%20Database/daylilydatabase.asp. This
is an unofficial database (not published by the daylily Society), but still
a wonderful resource. Tinkers even has over 5,000 daylily images and allows
visitors to upload more images into the database. This resource uses a
database maintained by daylily enthusiast Bob Clary. Bob also sells his
database on a CD for $10. He has sold this CD for many years, even prior to
the daylily Society having it's own product. He still updates his CD with
all the new registration information each year.

At one time, prior to the daylily Society having it's own CD, another CD was
available for $250.00. So you had a choice of spending $250 or $10 at the
same time.

The daylily Society does not have an online resource of the official
registration record. They do publish a yearly CD of all checklist
information for all registered daylilies (currently over 50,000) for $25.
Currently the images are not part of the CD.

If you are into hostas then check out the Hosta Library at
http://www.hostalibrary.org/ where you can see a large free online database
of hostas with over 7,000 images. You may also purchase a CD with identical
information for only $10.

Another resource, though not a database, is my own web site at
http://thegardensite.com. I do web design for over 80 different gardens and
hybridizers. Here you will find links to the newest introductions from many
daylily hybridizers, as well as many galleries with high numbers of daylily
images. I have just started expanding into irises, hostas, and other plants
with my web design. Joyce if you are looking to view daylilies, irises, or
hostas in a garden setting, but with close-ups of the plants and blooms that
check visit the garden video site at http://daylily.net/gardevideos/.

Bobby
