Betty, I believe for convenience sake it is just simpler to make one CD each
year that is a total compilation. This way there is not an upgrade disk and
a full disk (2 products). Not everyone with a computer is on the internet
(to receive a download), nor is everyone equally adept at upgrading a
program. I also prefer one master disk because it could then be fined tuned
each year to meet the user's needs. The ability to add new reports of
various types and to also add more searches, or to even upgrade the engine
of the program can be done each year when necessary. This way those that
upgrade will not be left behind. If a programmer is being paid to produce
the CD, then it is also less costly to make one master disk, than to code a
master and an upgrade. I guess I favor keeping things as simple as possible.
Of course, this conversation may just be keyboard practice for us if there
are no plans to produce a CD.
One final thought. This would be a wonderful opportunity for the Reblooming
Iris Society to take the lead and produce their reblooming checklist on CD.
