One of the dilemmas I've been having is
deciding if its worth it to use white parents
that are good carriers of rebloom. For example
ZURICH really does well here and is fertile
both ways. (btw does anyone know what color
Byer's sdlg B-8-2 was?) I can tolerate a whole
first generation of white seedlings, I'm just
not sure how many generations it can take to
get away from white.
My main goal is to get bi-colored cold weather
rebloomers. I know that there are some bi-
colors and amoenas that will rebloom, but the
most dependable rebloomers here are selfs-
violet, white or yellows. I have been
outcrossing to bi-colors and will cross the
progeny with similar rebloomer/bi-color
crosses. I'm hoping that I should at least get
some bi-colors that way. I'm guessing it will
possibly take additional generations to regain
the rebloom.
At least with the violets, you can get the
WHOLE CLOTH dominant gene. But I'm pretty sure
that even with the dominant amoena gene if you
have the (I) dominant white gene present that
you get a white iris.
So maybe my question is what's the quickest way
to get away from white (besides never using
dominant whites in crosses)

I think I read that article wrong, I mustve
thought it said to buy the best 40 you can
afford. LOL.
