I think that you can have a white with only one dose of the dominant and
three that are something other than white. So, in theory, you could
have 3/4 of the seedlings from a white parent with only one dose of the
dominant gene if you crossed it with something that wasn't white.
As long as there wasn't some other something that isn't dominant that
would make it look white.
Remember also that the dominant white genes only affect the sap soluble
pigments (blues & violets). So you can get all pinks or yellows from
dominant whites, just not blues & violets.
When I crossed IMMORTALITY with CELEBRATION SONG, some of the seedlings
were solid lavender, and one was a lavender amoena. So IMMORTALITY must
not have 4 sets of dominant white genes. If it has three (I think that
must be what she has), 1/2 of the babies will be white if crossed with
something other than dominant white. I got closer to 3/4. C SONG's
top has dominant white (amoena pattern), but I'm still a bit muddled
about whether that's the <same> dominant white gene, plus modifiers? or
some other confusing genetic something....
Hope I got that right. Probably just adding to the confusion - sorry.
I'm faced with the same problem - what to do with all these fairly nice
non-blue/lavender seedlings from IMMORTALITY, with tons more on the
way. Same problem with the yellows from HARVEST OF MEMORIES, I
think....Plus what to do with all those other more recent registered
white and yellow rebloomers.....
