Alan Ensminger regularly burned off the dead foliage in the spring. He never
had rot or leaf spot problems as a result. In TALL TALK, the magazine of the
Tall Bearded Iris Society--I can't remember which issue, probably one of last
year's--Opal and Henry Wulf describe in some detail the burner the made
specifically to burn off the iris patch, the method they used, and the results
they got.
