RE: HYB: Parents for rebloom with lace

Mary, I do have one suggestion as to aparent that might be useful to bring
in lace to rebloomers.

Keppel's VIENNA WALTZ gives very good, vigorous seedlings when crossed with a
variety of things. I have one seedling from it with Enchanted April that I
thought might send up a stalk this fall, but didn't. It is way ahead of its
sibs in growth, increase, vigor. I have no idea what it will look like as it
has yet to bloom--next spring, I hope!--but this kind of growth suggests at
least some of the genetics involved in rebloomers.

The background of most pinks and other laced varieties includes a lot of
Sass-line ancestry, which should be helpful, as I believe this to be true of
most rebloomers. Vienna Waltz also includes some high quality blue and white
ancestry--way back--that tends to inhibit fall bloom, but crossed with
rebloomers may yield what you are looking for. It certainly will bring in
some quality in any event.

As to health--this year with all our excessive rain we had a lot of losses due
to soft rot in many things. Vienna Waltz and its seedlings were not among
them, rather conspicuously.
