That's the first upside, dubious as it is, I've read in relation to AIS's
history of concentrating its convention interests exclusively on TBs. I
suppose those of us with a strong interest in beardless, species, median,
and dwarf irises should be grateful that the AIS doesn't feel threatened
by the conventions of the "underling" sections.

Why would anyone with an obvious passion for irises who has gone to the
extraordinary effort of creating a garden with the specific intent of
sharing their passion with as many people as possible suddenly decide to
interpret the enjoyment of *certain* garden visitors as "poaching"? Have
AIS/TBIS politics really become that petty? Even if the organizations
themselves have sunk to that level, I simply refuse to believe that the
individual gardeners who create convention gardens have.
