Re: REF: Judges Handbook

Mike, you are right on about what it takes to carry out (responsibly) the task
of being an AIS Judge. I spent most of a couple decades in that role and
spent a lot of time, money and energy seeing, studying and visiting, let alone
making the various trips around the huge Region 11 as a guest show judge and
for a time the RVP.

When I got back to iris in my retirement I gave some thought to getting
reinstated as a judge--my membership and status as a judge had lapsed for a
couple of decades-- and wrote to the powers-that-be in our region, but since
have reconsidered. My illness over the last two years has convinced me I
could not responsibly carry out the role....but like you, acquired the current
copy of the Handbook and made sure my Tennessee, iris-growing daughter also
had one. She and I both have been going through the book over and over. I've
not been able to attend any of the Judges' Training classes held within
reasonable driving distance but I'd love to know what is being taught about
Siberians and JI's especially. Hopefully this year?
