Charlotte Holte sent a CD with a MS Powerpoint (tm) presentation showing quite
a number of beautiful photos of seedlings and named varieties from the Median
tour in the Salem, OR, to Vancouver, WA, area this spring. The set is a
beautiful presentation, one I hope to share with our local iris society.
I suspect Char would be willing to share this program--its a beauty! It is
also long enough to be the major item on the agenda at a club meeting--or for
a good "Happy Hour" with hot or cold beverage in hand in front of the computer
watching the colorful new ones go by.
I was especially impressed with the Keppel, Aitken, Marky Smith, Lynn Markham,
Mid-America and Sterling Innerst varieties--and a whole lot more as well.
Lots of hybridizers are represented, the gardens groomed and the folks caught
on camera too--Willots, Bob Strohman, Paul Black and Tom Johnson and many
more.
The Craigs' tetraploid MTB's from aphylla with TB's are in their full glory
and range of colors.
A few of Chuck Chapman's are in the set as well. RUBY ERUPTION is one I've
heard mentioned a number of times. This was the first photo I'd seen of it,
and it is a must have. What color and contrast it has...lovely.
Those of us that are stay-at-homes will get a hefty sampling of Willamette
Valley irises and "gardens" the size of farms full of the best of the best.
Even my wife enjoyed it. "Oh! I *like* that one," she said, and said more
than once.
