The color is a little bit shrill in that scan, but you can get a  hint of the 
rose tones in the upper flower. The falls are a really fine  red. Looks to me 
like I might have done a bit of petal folding to get a better  shot of those 
interesting undersides.

One sees it from the car around here occasionally, too. It is a strong  iris, 
and a good sized one. The form is rather archaic but really oval and I  like 
it a lot. 
 
I told Gerry once in private conversation that I liked a mixture of  forms, 
and a mixture of good colors, in an iris bed, so at peak bloom it was  really 
interesting, like someone had overturned a coffer of variously cut  gems. I 
still like that effect.
