It seems to me that the mantis will put the egg case where it is least exposed. If
the weeds are tall and thick they willplace them higher, but where there is little
cover they will place them low. We found numerous egg cases at varying levels in
our weigela when we trimmed it this fall.

As far as weather indicators, we haven't even seen a wooly bear caterpillar this
fall....does that mean we are not having winter? Or will winter be the worst on
record...if so maybe I will apply Anner's motto to myself :)
