My mantis are green when young and brown when grown.  I've imported  them in 
the past, but both ladybugs and mantis were established here when I  arrived.  
I didn't expect them to make eggs casings down in the iris  clumps!  
 
The first fall I had ladybugs in my bathroom.  The first spring I saw  aphids 
but they totally disappeared before I could get concerned.  And, as  stated 
in another post, I feel sure my mantis took care of the hoppers.   I've seen a 
lot of casings.  
 
I spotted a green worm with yellow stripes in the iris beds this week.  Since 
I don't know if it's predator or helper, I'd hoped to find it on the  above 
site, but no luck.
