Extraction in hot water left evenly distributed yellow pigment of same
intensity in standards and falls, with <maybe> a very narrow, slightly
darker pigmented rim around the falls (no photo).
Hot water extraction looked slightly green, and after standing awhile,
the extraction of the standards definitely had a yellow tint. There was
more blue pigment in the extraction water from the falls, so the yellow
wasn't apparent, but I assume it was in both.
My interpretation - this flower has a smooth mix of anthocyanin and both
water soluble and oil soluble yellow, resulting in a uniform
buff-pinkish-brownish-yellowish self ground color with an anthocyanin
wash on the falls.
So, Chuck, this all seems to support your interpretation of the genetics
of the patterns & pigment potential in this IMMORTALITY X PINAFORE PINK
seedling?
Now that you can see a photo of the entire beard, do you still think
there is no tangerine? I realize that you can't really tell for sure by
looking at a photo.
< In the seedling I see no indication of there being either 3 or 4 "t"
genes. The beard is dark yellow in the throat, but definitely not
tangerine orange. When I see seedlings with three "t" genes I see a
darker yellow with more orange in it and far more of the beard
coloured.
<It would seem possible that both Pinafore Pink and Immortality have
three dosages of DRA and the seedling has two dosages. >
<I checked Immortality bloom. ...it has the violet in standards as well
as falls so it isn't an amoena. Thus the amoena factor, if there , must
be the recessive amoena.>
