Re: Re: Rebloom Sequence

I have scant, almost non-existent rebloom of bearded irises here in the northern White Mountains of New Hampshire, but I have had some. Chuck, and I think Linda, suggested that the climate in the more inhospitable regions might be the determining factor. Based on my small sampling, albeit about seven years ago when I had Medians and some MDB rebloom, the TBs opened prior to my SDBs and the MDBs. This is based on two reblooming TBs and one reblooming SDB and one or two MDBs. (I said it was a small sampling - I live in USDA Zone 3 but I think others in the western Zone 3 (Alberta?), have had fairly good luck with rebloomers)

I do not purchase any bearded irises that say 'rebloomers' because they don't perform up here and sometimes they don't make it to bloom either in June (our TB season) or Sept.(freeze time here). However, I am going to purchase some of Chuck's because I tend to be an optimistic re gardening and one has to be up here.

My mind is a blank after staying up real late last night watching the election returns but one of the TBs was the stalwart 'Immortality' that has rebloomed the most. I had two different clones of Immortality, one in my former garden and one in my present garden. Of course, one of the MDBs was 'Ditto' and two different clones in both gardens have rebloomed. (I have the records of several years in notebooks that I can retrieve but not today when a big nap is far more important). :-)
