OT- BIO- Loic TASQUIER

Hello everyone!
I'm finally in the iris- talk!
So happy to be here!

As i did on iris-photo, not knowing it was not the place for it, i'll tell you
about me:

I'm a Frenchman of 53, from Normandy, and used to a climate like in Seattle.
Used to teach French in highschool.
I moved to Holland 10 years ago to follow Jan, "L'Amour de ma vie" (the love
of my life), therefore sold house, left home, job, family and friends.

Being a retired person ( as i told you, i sold the house) gives me loads of
time that i spend 1/3 painting in the atelier, 2/3 on my knees in the garden.
We've been lucky enough to buy the field behind the house, it's was 1 acre and
a half with 40 walnut trees. We had to cut 20 in order to get some light
through.
400m2 are devoted to irises. 450 REB and 1250 NON-REB

The Dutch have VERY small gardens and they think irises bloom too short in
time.
I want to prove them wrong and my goal is to obtain median irises that rebloom
early.
Marianne JOOSTEN is breeding irises here in Holland and is delighted at the
idea of introducing them if ever sth comes out of it.

My first sdlgs bloomed last year. There were not many, but i've been very
lucky.
From that small lot i kept a yellow SDB called "EITJE" , and a purple one,
with very long falls DD04-01a. (they are on iris-photo).

I replanted 1000 slgds last June. Some already bloomed in September. They're
all on the compost heap except DD05-49a.
Can't wait for the rest to bloom next spring!

This month i seeded 550 pods!!!! When i imagine the work it will be to
replant the sdlgs, i think you can call me mad!
But 3/4 are RE X RE crosses, it would be a crime not to give them a chance!

Right.
That might need updating later, we'll see.
Can't wait to join the discussion.

Loic
