Laurie -- Considering the ground that you've already covered (no pun intended), it's easy to see why you're looking for more suggestions. What about rebloomers? In your experience, are there enough that succeed in your climate to warrant recommending them to non-specialists? (And, by the way, what irises have given you rebloom there? I see a few known rebloomers, such as ETERNAL BLISS and HOLY NIGHT, in your catalogue.) -- Griff

Happy Post-Thanksgiving and/or Holiday Season, Everyone, I need suggestions, and I know you're the folks to give them to me. For the last couple of years, I've been trying to inspire interest in irises in my part of the woods. I have now presented an "Irises 101" program to all of the garden clubs in my area, which they all seem to have enjoyed. The program included an overview of the different types and classes of irises, handouts on basic bearded and beardless iris culture along with a list of recommended cultivars for my area, a slideshow of all bearded classes and some beardless, and a Q&A period. I've also given SDB rhizomes to all attendees at meetings during times when digging/planting was possible. Now I would like to spend the winter developing more iris programs to offer the local clubs, but I'm stuck for ideas. I'm dealing with gardeners who have, to date, been reluctant to get enthusiastic about irises and who seem to know very little about them, so I think it's important to keep the information basic but appealing at this point. I'm afraid that since my "Irises 101" program touched on lots of things lightly, that the clubs are now assuming that I can't have anything more to offer that they want to know about irises. I need specific program ideas to help indoctrinate the iris-cautious. Ideas, anyone?
