planting TB seeds

I just planted seeds from my bearded iris crosses and was surprised at the
variability in appearance. Two crosses with DUSKY CHALLENGER as a parent
were huge and misshapen, seeds from a bee pod of CHERRY SMOKE were very
uniform in size and shape, seeds from BEHOLD A LADY were all sizes and
shapes.

Does size and shape of seeds have any relationship to how well the seeds grow
or what the babies look like? Will the babies from the huge misshapen seeds
be huge misshapen (ruffled?) babies? Will CHERRY SMOKE's babies all be
tailored? Or are these just quirks of seed formation that have little to do
with genetics?
