IB - BLESSED AGAIN
BB - LITTLE MISS, ZINC PINK
TB - ART SCHOOL ANGEL, AUTUMN APRICOT, CORN HARVEST, CROSSTITCH,
FORTUNE TELLER, GARDEN GRACE, HEMSTITCHED, JEAN GUYMER, PEACH JAM
BLESSED AGAIN has been incredible this year. Not only has it been virtually
non-stop but the flowers are very well formed even on the colder days.
ZINC PINK may be the biggest surprise.
AUTUMN APRICOT has probably been blooming over a longer period than any
other TB and is still sending up stalks.
We have had an unusually small amount of sun this fall but that has meant
we have missed any killing frost so far. Two mornings were -1C during
October. On the other hand our day time highs have been quite low, usually
only 5 or 6C during the past two to three weeks. Abnormally high rainfall
has been the story all of this year. Perhaps that is the key since we are
normally quite arid and I am a miser when it comes to irrigation.
Now I have a question. I am certain that the plants grow much better after
a heavy rain than they do following a similar amount of irrigation water
being applied. Am I imagining this or have others noticed a similar result?
For what it is worth, our irrigation and domestic water are delivered in
the same pipe and during the hot part of the summer it is very heavily
chlorinated - to the extent that we buy bottled water for drinking. Can
this have anything to do with it?
