Re: potted irises

We had a lot (200+) iris that were left over from our sales. JaNiece said
"oh, we will take them home and pot them. Since I am a "We" person, they
were potted, put out behind the shed where they get some sun and were
forgotten until recently. Most are doing quite well inspite of the neglect.
At the iris sale this year potted iris were too much trouble (hauling,
toting to the table, and displaying), so again they are sitting in pots where
"We" are fertilizing and giving tlc. I found several places in our garden in
Oct where I took some out of the pots and planted. They are doing quite
well. Our winters are not really cold (Zone 7), but we do have four or
five weeks in the teens off and on. Iris do well here. But they do well in
Iowa where our winters were -20. They are tough old birds..winter won't hurt
them.

Hangig my head in shame.... in cleaning out the shed this fall I found a
large box that had iris in sacks the were left over from sales three years
ago, that I planted and they are sending up divisions. Moral: iris are
tough, They are survivers.
