Re: comments on MATRIX

There was a question earlier about what triggers a reblooming
cultivar to rebloom, but I don't think we ever got an answer so I will not
repeat that question.

My question is why some rebloomers registered in OH, IN, and VA
are so late to rebloom for me, and I am several hundred miles south of
where these rebloomer originated. If these cultivars waited this late in
the climates where they were bred, they never would have made it on the
market as rebloomers. Examples are MATRIX, PINK ATTRACTION, EARL OF
ESSEX, HARVEST OF MEMORIES, and SUMMER OLYMPICS. On the other hand several
CA types started reblooming in July and have rebloomed non-stop since
then. Examples are BLATANT, CANTINA, and LOW HO SILVER.

Then there are those listed as rebloomers that have never bloomed
spring or fall in two years. Among the newer ones in this class are
PRISCILLA OF CORINTH, DESTRY RIDES AGAIN, and FREQUENT FLYER.

In addition to the non-stop performers listed above, other
outstanding rebloomers this season have been NORTHWARD HO, SUNNY
DISPOSITION, and CLARENCE. Notice, that these are VA bred, and DO
perform.

And, the last fact I want to bring out is that they are in the
same bed where they got the same treatment...extra water, extra food,
extra weeding, and extra 'talking-to'.
