Mark, could be Iris hexagona, which I grew many years ago in Florida, from
native material collected near Gainesville.  Unless Iris whatchimacallit
(can't get the name out of the memory hole; the southern relative of I.
setosa) also occurs in Florida, hexagona is about the only native
possibility.  But it's always possible that you have a naturalized alien.

I don't remember red roots nor if there is a white form of hexagona.
