Dear Kathy,
Louisiana has many problems, but a beautiful state with lots of diversity.
She is finally beginning to rediscover and define herself. There is a lot
future and opportunity here. (<:)
Louisiana is Zone 8 and 9. I have grown successfull all sorts of iris:
Bearded, Siberian, Spuria, Ensata, Dutch, I. pseudacorus (some folks thinks
its a native!), etc and our ever affable Louisiana iris in it 5 species and
many hybrids.
Driving around the state I see iris growing in many yards and gardens. So,
why don't we see a more organized effort in iris? I don't know. Like most
things in the South we blamed it on the War! (<:)
I will contact our Region 10 RVP and see what is our status regarding of
other iris activities. I know the activity of the SLI.
