Dear Rick: Please allow me to say "Thank You". I am delighted so many of
mine are doing well for you. Some of those that bloom summer and fall, like
CANTINA, do not rebloom for me at all, but they are a combination of my
EARL OF ESSEX and a western iris, Broadway, as I recall. I think those that
do not rebloom in the summer must have an estivation reaction to summer
heat, and wait until the temperature comes down before reblooming. This
fall there's very little rebloom here. Almost everything that has rebloomed
is dervied from BABY BLESSED ! LO HO SILVER has done splendidly here on the
parts I reset a year ago. Mitch Jameson has an SDB that performed
splendidly all of October, - but it is very similar to BABY BLESSED, one of
its parents. I am waiting for WAVES OF GRAIN to open, and also a new
seedling from a plicata out of Northward Ho by Joan's Pleasure. Earl Hall
said a few nights ago that this has been their very worst year for rebloom,
so the problem is not just in Region 4 (here). I get much less summer
rebloom here than I got in the mountains of Virginia. I blame it on the hot
summer nights. Lloyd Zurbrigg Durham NC No frost yet, but a cold weekend
may give it.
