Red root iris.
Mark, when I was in the Jacksonville area in August to install the officers
for
their new AIS affiliate, I visited someone who had a lot of bog native iris.
We
dug up several clumps for me to bring back on the plane. I don't remember
if I have a red root one, but like you am eagerly awaiting to see it perform.
0ne
clump is planted in the lagoon and others near it.
Speaking of bringing plants on the plane I'll mention how I do this. Earlier
when in Minnesota visiting my husband's family we wanted to bring rooted
starts of several shrubs from the homestead. My husband suggested we
put them in plastic bags and then place them in the Delta garment holders.
It really worked great and Delta check-in people were most gracious about
helping me. They are doing well I am happy to report.
Mark I believe you will be pleasantly surprised at how well your iris will do
for you. Sometimes we just have to take a chance and sounds as though
you are doing what is necessary for success. If I lose some I just try again
and usually I am successful on the next try.
Claire on Isle of Palms where there may be a possibility of a frost in a day
or two, today near 60 degrees though and lovely.
