Rick
It is nice to see that ground covers are used in such a healthy way. I
don't have space like you, but I do plant a green manure for my vegie garden
which is in raised beds. I had a late start this fall, but in the spring
(late April ) I too will till under the green with a garden fork and it will
be ready to use by late May when the soil is finally warm enough to plant
something besides radishes and lettace (cool soil plants). Celary and
spinach which I allowed to go to seed are sprouting in the walkway , Of
course the celary will get frost killed but I might have spinach all winter
long.
My poor iris just get the benifit of compost every other year or so when
I dig a bed up.
