While browsing through the 40's R&I I came across a cultivar registered as
The Bruce. I was unable to determine if it was introduced. The hybidizer
was listed as JB Moore. Can anyone tell me if it was introduced and if it
is still grown anywhere? Sounds like a HIPS mystery maybe... >>
Well, this member of the HIPSoisie can tell you that it isn't among those
irises people have reported growing in the most recent issue of the HIPS
DataBank, so if it is out there, we have no record of it at this time. J.B.
Moore was Mrs. John Beverly Moore of 520 North Main St., Benton, Illinois, so
you do have a lead on its birthplace. Maybe a little detective work will pay
off! Keep us posted!
I'll cc Mike in on this in case there is a story about this one that I don't
know. There is often a story about things that I don't know.
