OT: Irids-- Blackberry Lily

While various Irids have been discussed on this list, I have yet to
see much on the Blackberry Lily. The botanical name of this plant is
Belemcanda chinensis. This is a plant that can be grown throughout the
south, including most of Florida. This plant also has considerable cold
hardiness, being hardy to USDA Zone 5, maybe even further north. I grew it
for years in Kentucky, and it can be seen in gardens here. (I have had
some good starts of things from local gardens as well)
This plant can be grown in full sun to full shade, but it looks like
part sun is best for most areas. The only negative comments I can think of
on this plant are the following two: (1.) It is susceptible to the Iris
Borer. (2.) One can often have a few hundred volunteer Blackberry Lily
plants coming up from seed.
Does anyone else on the Iris-L grow this plant? I have two started
here.
