Hi Talkers,
I was wondering when someone was going to get around to mentioning JOHN
in this discussion of Art Shades. It seems to me that JOHN, like JUNGLE
SHADOWS, is a love or hate cultivar. Either you love it or hate it.
Personally, I am not fond of the "art shades" nor am I very fond of
browns but JOHN is one that is exceptional!!! The color is what I would
describe as bronze with a flush of purple/brown in the standards,
basically a reverse bicolor. Excellently formed flowers with round and
ruffled falls with domed standards. Very healthy and vigorous in growth,
forming a nice, tight clump with many stalks and buds that open
sequentially so as not to appear crowded. What more could one asked for?
It was a favorite when I grew it.
