JUNGLE SHADOWS--which is a remarkable combination of a tobacco brown, a dull
violet, and some slaty navyish grey -- is a lot of folk' s favorite BB. And
planted in the right company it absolutely sings. I saw it planted with a late
'sixties TB which was essentially a deep but bright brick to rust shade with a
rich rosy infusion ,and near a clump of OVATION ,with a good clear tailored
white in the neighborhood and let me tell you that was something to get
excited about! They all complimented each other's form and color and the
combination of colors made the green of the foliage an active participant in
the scheme. Often the green, and there is a lot of green in a healthy iris
patch, is the note that unsettles a color scheme, or makes an iris's color
look a bit edgy. I think this is one reason some variegatas tend to be
difficult to work with.
