Thankyou, Thankyou, Thankyou, Pat. I don't know why I didn't think of
this. I have been battling against wet weather (ruined pollen) frost
(ruined buds and pods) and dry weather (dry stigma).
Despite Donalds mirth, and Donna's confusion, I shall be trying out the
spit method this week. I guess a cotton bud will do the trick. I just
need several more hands to hold all the bit's and pieces.
Donna, wet pollen is useless, but the dry pollen needs to be moistened
once it is in contact with the stigma, in order to germinate, and
fertilise the ovum.
We're almost to the end of the iris season here in Australia, and, while
I have heaps of pods on dwarfs and IB's I have not yet a single take on
a TB. (Sob, Sniff)
