Dana,
Your Dutch iris are performing normally. They will be fine in spite of
the weather this winter and should bloom before the TBs next spring.
I've found that certain ones return year after without much increase,
others increase, and others just gradually disappear in a year or two.
This has been true even if they were all planted in the same location,
so I think it may depend on the cultivar. Although, I have one which
increases like a crazy thing, but always gets frozen, so I've only seen
one or two blooms. I've wondered if not managing to produce the
blooms has caused the increase. In any case, this year it was
relocated to a LARGE pot and if it looks like a hard freeze, I'm moving
it inside until danger is past.
