CULT: aphids & grammar

From:	dkramb@tso.cin.ix.net (Dennis Kramb)

I brought two TB stalks into my house a week ago and placed them in the
same bottle of water. Tonight I threw them out. One stalk (URIAH THE
HITTITE) was completely covered with aphids. The other stalk (AUTUMN
BUGLER) had none. Would anyone care to comment on this interesting
observation?

And another thing, a bit off the wall, but anyway. Is it proper to say "I
have many Iris foetidissimas" or to say "I have many Irises foetidissima"?
Anyone out there an English major? :)

Thanks, folks!
